Bill Parravano – Founder, The Comella Foundation

The roots of The Comella Foundation began with two defining moments in my life.

The first came at the age of seven, when my grandmother, Anne Comella, passed away from cancer. Her death left a profound imprint on me—not only because it was my first experience with loss, but because it awakened a deep awareness of the fragility of life and a desire to understand the causes of suffering.

The second came years later when I experienced four dislocations in my left knee that forced me to reevaluate everything I thought I knew about health, strength, and healing. That injury derailed a promising path in competitive judo, but it ultimately led me to something far more important.

I began studying Systema, the Russian martial art rooted in breath, movement, and relaxation. At the same time, I immersed myself in Ortho-Bionomy®, a gentle, osteopathically-based form of body work focused on working with the body’s natural intelligence rather than against it. Since 1998, these two disciplines have formed the foundation of my healing journey and teaching.

Over the years, I’ve learned that true healing doesn’t come from force—it comes from awareness, alignment, and deep listening to the body. Through The Comella Foundation, I now share this integrative approach with others—helping people move out of pain, reduce stress, and regain control over their health using natural, accessible tools.

Whether it’s a first responder under chronic strain, a veteran carrying the weight of past trauma, or a neighbor simply trying to live with less pain, our mission is the same: to restore balance, resilience, and hope—one breath, one step, one person at a time.
